Climate change is one of the most urgent issues facing humanity. Students want to make an impact, and employers are looking for talent:

  • Over 70% of students are interested in pursuing a career that allows them to address global issues like climate change, according to Cambridge International.
  • Demand for green jobs has grown more than 50% over the last 5 years, according to Lightcast data.
  • The median hiring rate for workers with at least one green skill, defined as a skill that enables the environmental sustainability of economic activities, is 29% higher than the workforce average, according to LinkedIn’s 2023 Green Skills report.

These are just a few of the reasons why on this Earth Day celebration, Rize Education is excited to announce the launch of our newest academic program: Climate Tech.

Rize's Climate Tech program is designed to be offered as a minor or concentration that pairs with business, technology, and engineering degrees. Our program uniquely teaches students to bridge specialist knowledge about climate and sustainability with the skills from their major to solve climate challenges.

Rize partner colleges can launch a Climate Tech program by adding 6 Rize courses to their existing catalog. Students will learn about the fundamentals of climate science, cutting-edge innovations in the industry, how to design their own climate solutions, and how to get a job in climate tech.

The below is a potential college-to-career pathway for students enrolled in the Climate Tech program.

College-to-career pathway example for students in the Rize Climate Tech Program
  • Project Management Major: Through the Rize Project Management program or your home institution's, a student will gain some of the most coveted project planning and execution skills for new hires in the modern economy with their base major.
  • Climate Tech Minor: Students who wish to work in sustainability must articulate a deep understanding of the climate crisis and their personal motivations for climate work. A Climate Tech minor helps achieve this directly because Rize courses are designed to prepare students for the real-world with career navigation embedded into the curriculum
  • Climate Tech Job: Graduates will be prepared with the skills to land a job in the industry such as Sustainability Project Manager, Climate Compliance Manager and many other options. There are currently almost 53,000 unique active job postings for Climate / Sustainability Project Managers with a median salary of $110,000
